Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an insight into his call not to afford minutes to defensive stars Eric García and Iñigo Martínez during the club’s latest outing.
Barcelona, of course, were back in action on Thursday.
In the 2nd fixture of the club’s pre-season tour of Asia, the Blaugrana made the trip to South Korea, for a friendly meeting with FC Seoul.
When all was said and done, Barca, as expected, emerged dominant victors, by seven goals to three.
Along the way, Hansi Flick afforded the opportunity to impress to a whole host of members of his squad, with no fewer than 24 Blaugrana stars having taken to the pitch at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Two players who were forced to watch on from the bench for the full 90 minutes, though, were the aforementioned Eric García and Iñigo Martínez.
Speaking to the media post-match, Barca’s headmaster therefore felt it necessary to explain as much, confirming:
“Every player had 45 minutes. It was more important to take care of Eric and Iñigo, who had some discomfort. In the end, I’m very happy.”
