Gyokeres adamant he can bring prolific form to Premier League | OneFootball

Viktor Gyokeres is adamant his prolific goal record at Sporting Lisbon can translate to the Premier League.

Gyokeres is in talks over a potential transfer to Arsenal, with the two teams negotiating a fee.

Arsenal have already agreed personal terms with the player, who has refused to return to Sporting for pre-season as he looks to force through the move.

Arsenal are willing to pay around €70m (£60.4m), while Sporting are demanding closer to €80m (£69m). Gyokeres has been angered by the club’s apparent refusal to honour a gentleman’s agreement over his exit.

The 27-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most coveted players since signing for Sporting in 2023.

Gyokeres has scored 97 goals in just 102 games for the Portuguese side, earning him back-to-back Primeira Liga titles and top-scorer awards.

Gyokeres has also netted 15 times in 26 appearances for Sweden and believes his performances have elevated him to a status as one of the world’s best.

He believes he is now comparable to the best goalscorers in world football and has backed himself to translate his prolific form in Portugal to any league.\

Asked how he compared to Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland among the leading forwards in world football, Gyokeres said: “I’m definitely one of them,” he told French outlet L’Equipe.

“It’s difficult to rank me but, yes, I’m at the same table as them now. What I managed to do at Sporting, I am convinced that I can achieve anywhere. You haven’t seen the best of me yet.”
