Dimitris Limnios (27) could make his comeback in the Netherlands after more than three years away. The Greek striker is considering a loan move to Fortuna Sittard, who are in advanced negotiations with his current side, Panathinaikos.
The deal is a loan with an option to buy. Previously, Limnios played one season for FC Twente, who loaned him in from FC Köln in 2021. In Enschede, he scored eight goals in 33 league matches.
Then, 18 months after returning to Germany, he left for his home country on a free transfer, where Panathinaikos signed him. His current contract in Greece still has two years remaining, which can be bought out by Fortuna Sittard after the loan period.
Limnios is a winger who can play on either flank. Fortuna Sittard saw two wingers leave Limburg this summer in Milan Robberechts and Josip Mitrovic. Mattijs Branderhorst, Philip Brittijn, and Paul Gladon are the most recent newcomers to the squad. The side kick off with a home match against Go Ahead Eagles in the opening match of the new season.
