With Florian Wirtz close to joining Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen are urgently searching for a replacement for the highly-rated German international.
Now, The Sun has thrown an intriguing name into the mix: Jack Grealish, who has fallen out of favor at Manchester City.
The report claims that new Leverkusen coach Erik ten Hag sees the English attacking midfielder as the ideal candidate to replace Wirtz.
The 29-year-old, who cost City a staggering €118 million when he was signed from Aston Villa in 2021, is said to have no future at the Etihad Stadium.
Reports have suggested that Grealish won’t even be included in Manchester City’s squad for the upcoming Club World Cup tournament this month.
Manchester City would reportedly be willing to let Grealish go for around €47 million – a significant fee for a club like Leverkusen – and the player would have to accept a pay cut to make the switch to BayArena.
Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Nico Paz, among others, have also been mentioned as possible replacements.
