Gotham FC vs Washington Spirit: How to watch, time, more of Kryptonite game

Well, NJ/NY Gotham FC fans have their answer about the state of the team. The Bats appeared to be on a roll when they beat the North Carolina Courage and Angel City FC in style, scoring seven goals in two games. However, Tuesday’s midweek battle with Portland Thorns FC humbled the ladies, for they were dismantled in the second half to lose 4-1.
As such, based on the results so far this year, Gotham FC still has a lot of work to do. They have the potential to be a top team, but are not there yet. The roster changes in the offseason meant there would be growing pains. However, that does not mean it would be all bad and then sunshine and rainbows. Rather, the expectation would be that it would be a bumpy roller coaster ride until the team reaches the top of where they were last year.
Sure, there was some hope that it was happening sooner. But Portland provided a hard truth to the team and fans. It does not get easier either, for Gotham will end their three-game road trip with a game against the Washington Spirit. Last year, with the exception of the Summer Cup when neither team was at full strength, the D.C. side was their Kryptonite. It was impossible to figure out how to beat the Spirit during the regular season and in the playoffs. While it was close in the semifinals, Washington still beat the Bats via a penalty kick shootout.
The one hope is that the different roster this season will wash away the 2024 woes. It is a clean slate. The fear, though, is that the home team proved they are one to be feared after they beat the Orlando Pride last week. So, Gotham FC must lock away what happened to them in Portland and find the magic from the two previous fixtures.

If Gotham fans cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via the NWSL website and the club’s X account.
If Mandy Freeman is not available, then Bruninha should start at right-back over Nealy Martin. Bruninha is a natural defender while Martin was exposed against Portland. She should return to the midfield where she shines.
