Under-18s midfielder Finlay Gorman says City’s win against Wolverhampton Wanderers proves that they’re looking at different ways to score goals.
Gorman and Floyd Samba’s second half goals helped City secure all three points in our 2-0 triumph at the City Football Academy, taking us one point behind league leaders Manchester United with a game in hand.
The 16-year-old picked up Kaden Braithwaite’s looped ball towards the near post and weaved between the defenders before controlling the ball with his chest and converting on the half turn.
Gorman was pleased that his strike showcased City’s versatility when attacking.
“It was a tough game, obviously 2-0, it took us a long time to break them down and score, but I think the quality came out,” said Gorman.
“Something the coach and also as players we think we need more of [is] to have different options and more ways of scoring goals than just pass pass.
“[We proved] we can also put the ball in the box and score.”
Claiming all three points means our winning streak continues in 2025, unbeaten in nine since the turn of the year.
Next, we travel to Stoke in another difficult game where Gorman hopes we prove our ambition to succeed.
“I think it’s something to look forward to each week, [Stoke] is another game and hopefully another three points,” continued Gorman.
“We’ll keep the run going and show the country that we’re not here just to play, but to win everything.
“I’m just happy with how I’m playing and more importantly getting three points and winning but also scoring as well.”
