Goalless between Fluminense and Dortmund

There was nothing to separate Fluminense and Borussia Dortmund at the MetLife Stadium despite Jobe Bellingham making his debut.

The former Sunderland watched from the bench for most of the game and will have seen his new side struggle to create against the Brazilian outfit with Thiago Silva, who will turn 41 in a few months, still prove to be a top defender.

Fluminense looked to pounce whenever they got the ball and a quick counter attack saw midfielder Martinelli fizz a shot just wide of the post from distance.

In the second half, the Rio de Janeiro team were the better of the two sides and they controlled the tempo with Dortmund looking far from their swash buckling saves.

Jobe Bellingham made his debut with just under an hour gone but, like his teammates, couldn't find a way to influence the game.

Instead it was the forward line of Flu who looked more likely with Agustín Canobbio and his replacement Kevin Serna as well as Jhon Arias causing plenty of danger.

However, besides a superb double save from Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel following a corner there was little of note that either shot-stopper had to do.

Fluminense will feel like they were probably the better of the two teams overall but the points were eventually shared.
