Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has confirmed he is doing well after suffering a terrifying facial injury during his side's 4-2 win over Monaco.

Donnarumma had to be substituted after just 22 minutes following a nasty collision with Monaco's Wilfried Singo, who caught the goalkeeper directly in the face with his studs as he challenged for the ball.

The wound on Donnarumma's face was immediately visible and images showed he needed ten staples in his face in the dressing room.

Fortunately, despite the gruesome nature of Donnarumma's injury, it appears to have been little more than flesh wound as the bandaged-up stopper took to social media to post a photo with the caption: "Tutto bene", translating to 'All good'.

Singo, who was already on a booking at the time and somehow avoided a second yellow card for the incident, went to the PSG dressing room to apologise to Donnarumma after the game and posted his own message on social media.

"I want to apologise to Gianluigi Donnarumma," Singo wrote. "My gesture was obviously not intentional, but I was able to see afterwards that he had a serious injury to his face. I wish you a good recovery."

PSG are back in action on Sunday in the Coupe de France fifth round against Lens, with manager Luis Enrique set to provide a fresh update on Donnarumma's condition before the game.
