Joaquin Correa came off the bench for Inter Milan against Cagliari yesterday.

The 30-year-old replaced Marko Arnautovic in the second half.

By the time that Correa came onto the pitch, Inter were 3-1 up.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri were not exactly looking for attacking inspiration from the former Lazio and Sevilla forward.

But rather, Inter needed Correa to help them see out the victory.

But as it turned out, Correa put in exactly the kind of performance Inter needed from him.

For much of his time at Inter, Joaquin Correa has faced persistent criticism for a lack of physicality and for losing the ball too easily.

But against Cagliari yesterday, that was certainly not the case.

Correa was aggressive and fought with the Cagliari defenders in duels. This gave Inter a clear outlet to keep the ball in midfield and carry it in and around the penalty area, or to the corner flag.

This meant that Inter were able to control the tempo and prevent the Rossoblu from staging a late onslaught.
