Yann Bisseck will start in defense for Inter Milan in today’s Serie A match against Lazio.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the German will get the nod ahead of Matteo Darmian.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi does not have too many big decisions to make this evening.
The Nerazzurri coach certainly wants to play his strongest available starting eleven. This evening’s match has the feel of a potential title-decider with the team’s level on points going into it.
A number of big names will be returning to the Inter starting eleven. That’s never been in any doubt.
But there’s one area of the pitch in which Inzaghi has been far from certain as to who he’ll start.
In defense, Inzaghi is working around a couple of notable injuries.
Neither Benjamin Pavard nor Francesco Acerbi are available for this evening’s match.
Therefore, it is not as though Inzaghi has a wealth of options to choose from in defense at the moment.
And it has been clear that Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij would start.
However, there has been some doubt as to whether or not Inzaghi would reprise the entire back three that started recent matches against Parma and Bayer Leverkusen.
Yann Bisseck started in both of those matches.
However, Veteran former Manchester United and Torino defender Matteo Darmian is also more than capable of playing on the right of the back three.
Therefore, Inzaghi has given some consideration to starting Darmian.
But according to the Gazzetta, it is Bisseck who will start. Darmian will therefore begin the match on the bench.
The Gazzetta’s complete predicted Inter starting eleven for the match is as follows:
Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro
