Former Barcelona star Gerard Piqué this week opened up on his favourites to lift the next Ballon d’Or.

And the Spaniard could not help but allow his Blaugrana bias, at least to some extent, to show…

Chatter surrounding the 2025 ‘Golden Ball’ has of course begun to ramp up in a major way over recent weeks.

This comes with the 2024/25 campaign having now come to an end, and the newly-formatted Club World Cup on the horizon.

In the eyes of most, including the bookmakers, the race has been narrowed to two leading contenders, in the form of Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, and Paris Saint-Germain standout Ousmane Dembélé.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media at the Kings League this week, the aforementioned Gerard Piqué was therefore asked for his take on the battle to be named world football’s best player.

And the Blaugrana legend went on to name three members of Hansi Flick’s squad on his podium, in Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha.

Next up was PSG midfielder Vitinha, followed by Kylian Mbappé, and then Ousmane Dembélé.
