Ahead of the second leg of their clash with Real Betis in the Europa Conference League, Gent head coach Danijel Milicevic was talking to the press. Milicevic, who is still only acting as an interim head coach, stated that the heavy defeat at home means the club are now ‘playing for pride’ in Spain. Milicevic did point out that the Buffaloes created a lot of chances in the first leg, but failing to take them saw them lose 3-0 to the La Liga side.

Gent face an almost impossible task in Spain. They need to score four goals unanswered, not something they have been good at doing so far this season. They have also been incredibly inconsistent this season. Last weekend they only narrowly beat bottom of the table Beerschot thanks to a late penalty. Their opponents, on the other hand, helped themselves to another 3-0 victory, this time over Real Sociedad. Their winter signing Antony has been in great form since joining. The winger has scored three goals in four games and grabbed one assist.
