Massimiliano Allegri’s name has, once again, began to creep up in the AC Milan managerial picture, and there is reportedly a ‘temptation’ to bring him back to the club.
With Sergio Conceicao’s time in Milan quickly approaching an end, the Rossoneri have already begun assessing the candidate next in line. Several ideas have been discussed, but after two international failures, the club is likely to look closer to home.
Allegri, therefore, is a fantastic option – he knows the league and above all, the club, so he can focus on things that work in Serie A, whilst also working for the fanbase.
This morning, Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) stated that the club are experiencing a ‘temptation’ to appoint their former head coach once again, and there is a few reasons why.
The goal for everyone is Champions League football. However, this is easier to achieve on paper than when actually going for it, especially in the position that the Diavolo find themselves in. For this reason, a period of development is needed, and Allegri can oversee this.
A champion himself, he also is skilled when it comes to bettering talents at a young level, whilst maintaining a brilliant ability to further the more experienced heads in the dressing room – a perfect mix for the current squad, perhaps.
Furthermore, he has worked in difficult dressing rooms, as the paper states, which included Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Cassano, for example, so he knows how to navigate these issues.

Finally, he likes the idea of the current squad, Rafael Leao – a player that, on the face of it, would be loved by Allegri after his time with Paul Pogba, as the report claims, Tijjani Reijnders, Youssouf Fofana, Christian Pulisic, even Strahinja Pavlovic – the tools are there.
The next appointment is huge for the club, and it very much has to be a case of returning to basics and tradition. So, Allegri is perfect here too. A coach who ‘knows Serie A and its methods’, whilst also having an interest in Milanese life and culture, is important. However, a joint motive to redeem themselves is the headline.
For now, it is a waiting game, and the next decision for Giorgio Furlani is about the new sporting director, not a head coach. However, this is expected to be made by the end of the month.
This summer, the new head coach will not be tied to any competitions, so it can be a case of hard work to recover the club’s season. For Allegri, the first contacts have already been made, but a decision has yet to be.
