Manchester City have reportedly received an opening proposal from Galatasaray for mainstay number one choice goalkeeper Ederson, according to new information.
The future of the Brazilian international has become one of the key talking points of Manchester City’s summer window, with serious developments now beginning to emerge from Turkey.
While City have not actively pushed their long-standing number one shot-stopper towards the exit door, their openness to discussions has encouraged Galatasaray to formalise interest — and a first bid has now landed on the table.
That approach follows weeks of speculation, with Ederson having personally shown interest in the idea of a fresh challenge away from the Etihad Stadium, especially with the Premier League giants quietly preparing to refresh key parts of their squad.
City are aware of the need to manage a generational transition in goal, and Ederson’s contract expiring in 2026 adds further complexity. With Stefan Ortega Moreno also assessing his future amid interest from Germany, the Etihad side may soon find themselves rebuilding their entire goalkeeping department.
Now, according to a new report from French newspaper L’Equipe, Galatasaray have submitted their opening proposal for Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson – worth €3 million.
That valuation falls significantly short of recent figures suggested elsewhere, with some reports claiming a deal could be reached around the €9 million to €15 million mark. However, it may serve more as a signal of intent from Galatasaray, who would be expected to return with an improved bid.
Whether City take the offer seriously remains to be seen. While they are receptive to letting Ederson leave under the right conditions, a €3 million opening bid is unlikely to trigger serious internal conversations.
The Turkish champions are likely to remain in contact with the player’s representatives, and earlier reports this week suggested Ederson would be willing to lower his salary demands to facilitate the move.
Confidence from the Istanbul club remains high, with internal belief that their long-term project, UEFA Champions League ambitions, and financial commitment could prove persuasive.
Should the deal move forward, it would mark the end of an era at the Etihad Stadium. Ederson has made over 370 appearances for City, winning 13 trophies, and playing an instrumental role in defining the club’s modern identity under Pep Guardiola.
For Manchester City, attention may then turn to identifying a replacement — with FC Porto’s Diogo Costa and Barcelona’s Marc-André ter Stegen both under consideration, if recent reports are to be believed.
