Franco Mastantuono speaks at Real Madrid presentation – ‘A day I’ll remember for the rest of my life’ | OneFootball

After a prolonged wait, Franco Mastantuono has been finally presented as a new signing by Real Madrid earlier today.

The Merengues signed the teenage sensation from River Plate back in June itself, but waited until today, the day he turned 18 years old, to formally present him as the latest addition to the squad.

Mastantuono has been in Spain for the past couple of weeks, working by himself, and he finally arrived at the club facilities today, where he underwent his medicals before signing the contract with president Florentino Perez.

Mastantuono ecstatic

After the contract signing, the 18-year-old South American gem spoke at the presentation, attended by several dignitaries as well as his family.

“It’s a special day to join Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world. It’s a day I’ll remember for the rest of my life,” he said.

Continuing, the teenage wonderkid thanked a plethora of people for helping him achieve his dream of joining Real Madrid.

“Thanks to everyone here and to the president, my dream of joining the biggest club in the world has come true,” he said.

“I want to thank my family and friends for always being there. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible,” he added.

“Thanks to all the people of Argentina, who are very special to me. I have to keep learning, but I promise I’ll give my all for this jersey,” Mastantuono further insisted.

Concluding, he stated that he will be another fan who gets to live the dream of playing for Real Madrid, saying:

“They’ll be with one more fan inside the stadium, thanks to everyone and… Hala Madrid!”

Florentino Perez welcomes Mastantuono

Prior to Mastantuono’s address, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez gave a speech at the presentation ceremony, welcoming the club’s fourth signing of the summer.

“Today is a day of special excitement. One of the greatest talents to emerge in the world of football in recent years is joining our club,” he started.

“Dear Mastantuono, congratulations because today your big dream comes true, on your birthday,” added Perez.

“River Plate has a historic and sentimental connection due to the history that unites us over the years,” the club president said about the connection Real Madrid share with River Plate.

Paying homage to a club legend Alfredo Di Stefano, Perez further said: “Today you join the prestigious list of Argentine footballers who have joined Real Madrid. Our beloved Alfredo Di Stefano paved the way for the club to become one of the greatest in the world.”

After listing out the various achievements of the youngster, Perez concluded his speech by welcoming Mastantuono to Real Madrid, saying:

“From today on, you’re wearing the white jersey of the 15 European Cups. Thank you very much for wanting to be here with us.”
