France EURO 2024 Star On Chance To Equal Ronaldo & Lukaku Derby Record For Inter Milan: ‘The Win Is What Matters’ | OneFootball

Marcus Thuram feels that an Inter Milan win is more important than him equalling the derby record of Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku.

The Frenchman spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s Serie A clash with AC Milan.

Thuram has certainly made an impact at Inter since arriving at the club last summer.

And there is perhaps no fixture in which the 27-year-old has done more than the Milan derby.

Thuram has played in just two Milan derbies thus far.

The France international started against the Rossoneri both home and away last season.

But in both meetings with Inter’s city rivals, Thuram has managed to be decisive.

The Frenchman is now just about to play in his third derby against Milan.

This is a chance for Thuram to score for the third straight derby since joining Inter.

And only two other players have managed that in the history of the fixture.

One is legendary former Brazilian striker Ronaldo. He scored in his first three derbies for Inter after joining from Barcelona.

And the other is current Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian joined Inter from Manchester United in the summer of 2019. He got off to a blazing start at the Nerazzurri, and like Thuram he particularly shone in the derby against Milan.

Thuram Downplays Chance To Equal Ronaldo & Thuram Derby Record

Thuram had it pointed out to him that he could equal Ronaldo and Lukaku’s record.

“Yes, that would be great,” he said.

“But the most important thing is that the team takes home three points at the end of the match,” the Frenchman made clear.

Meanwhile, Thuram also gave his thoughts on his style of play.

“When I started out it was as a winger,” he said.

“I had to adapt to a new role.”

“This season I’m trying to become more of a clinical striker, take on more shots that I didn’t before,” Thuram explained.

“It’s what I work on every day in training. I’m trying to do better.
