Kylian Mbappe has had a difficult period since his move to Real Madrid in the summer as he has failed to deliver on expectations.
The 25-year-old superstar has had his moments but has largely struggled to perform consistently, especially failing to shine in the No. 9 role.
Mbappe has drawn a lot of criticism as a result while he was also left out of the France squad by manager Didier Deschamps for the ongoing international break.
Speaking to the media after France’s goalless draw against Israel earlier in the week, Deschamps explained his rationale behind leaving Mbappe out of the squad.
Previously, the Les Bleus boss had stated that the decision was the best for all parties involved and elaborating on it, he said:
“It’s a fact that he is in a difficult situation. He is obviously going through a period that is not the happiest of his career.”

Continuing, Deschamps added: “He wanted to come. But I think it’s better for him (not to be selected) at this moment. Everyone can go through a difficult period. There is a physical element and a psychological element.”
Mbappe’s performances have been below average in recent weeks after he joined Real Madrid from PSG this summer.
The forward has scored only one goal in his last seven games for Los Blancos and has not added to his tally of 48 goals for France since June.
A member of his entourage recently revealed to the media that Mbappe is going through some mental issues and is working on recovering his best form.
