HLN are reporting that Archie Brown is set to leave Gent to join Turkish side Fenerbahçe. The 23-year-old English defender had been the subject of interest from both West Ham and AC Milan in the past. However, neither side made a concrete move to bring the player in and now he will leave Gent for Turkish football. It has been clear for some months now that Gent were looking to cash in on Brown this summer, despite his contract running until 2027.
Brown, who came through the youth ranks at Derby County, never made an appearance in English football. Instead, the left-back moved to Switzerland and joined Lausanne. After 43 appearances for the side he joined Gent in the summer of 2023. Brown has been a regular at left-wing-back for Gent since he joined, playing 87 games in two seasons. He has scored three goals and provided eight assists.
Brown is unlikely to be the last player to leave Gent this summer as new head coach Ivan Leko looks to revamp the squad to suit his style of play.
