Former Real Madrid midfielder Thomas Gravesen has once again torn into Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen has found game time hard to come by under Ruben Amorim despite a relatively positive start to the season under Erik ten Hag.
He has only played 156 minutes this calendar year, with 146 minutes of those being in the Europa League.
The Dane was linked with a move away from Old Trafford in January but with his contract running out in the summer, there are no clear signs of a renewal forthcoming.
Former Denmark international Thomas Gravesen has sensationally claimed that Eriksen’s career may be over when he leaves United in the summer.
Speaking to Danish outlet Tipsbladet he claimed, “it is 100% over for Christian Eriksen at Manchester United this summer, and I also fear that his career is over.”
Gravesen also questioned whether Eriksen will have the motivation to play in a much lower competition for significantly less money.
“Where is he going to go? Where will he go and earn DKK 60m a year? I have a very hard time seeing that.”
The former Everton midfielder also claimed that Eriksen’s career has been in a downward trajectory for a while now and that it is “sad” to see one of Denmark’s greatest servants in the situation he is currently in.
“He’s one of the players in Denmark who has given us the most. He has shone and been our best man, so it is sad if his career ends like this.”
Gravesen has been a regular critic of Eriksen and in the lead up to Euro 2024, regularly lambasted the national team’s decision to call up the United midfielder due to his lack of playing time at Old Trafford.
Nonetheless Eriksen gave a good account of himself and ended up scoring a goal against Slovenia in the competition.
