Chris Davies’ Blues will be eager to earn promotion to the Premier League but the Championship is a difficult league to get out of.
With Tomoki Iwata in their ranks, US-backed Birmingham will be delighted to have landed a player or Kyogo’s quality. A move to the Championship represents a fall from grace for Kyogo and he must wonder how he’s ended up here.
Last summer, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Pep Guardiola’s Man City were considering the Japanese striker with a fee of £15m suggested for the player. No move came to fruition but a number of links followed, suggesting that the player was keen on an exit.
Kyogo was signed by Celtic in 2021 as one of Ange Postecoglou’s first since assuming control at Celtic Park. It was an inspired signing and the striker would net 85 goals and assist 19 times across 165 appearances for Celtic.
