La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been afforded some altogether timely positive news on the transfer front.

This comes amid the revelation that a former member of the club’s youth ranks is ready to take his talents back to Catalunya’s capital in the summer.

The player in question? Xavi Simons.

The name of attacker Simons has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona over the course of recent days.

This comes after confirmation was forthcoming in the media that the Dutch international has been earmarked as a leading target on the part of Xavi and his Blaugrana coaching staff.

The Spanish tactician, in turn, will no doubt be overjoyed to hear of the latest developments in Simons’ future with parent club Paris Saint-Germain.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Dutch international is ready to do his part in securing a reunion with Barca over the months ahead.

Simons – who has spent the season to date on loan with RB Leipzig – boasts a contract clause which allows him to choose the clubs whom he joins on loan.

And MD point towards the 21-year-old as being ready to make use of these terms to join Xavi’s Barcelona for the 2024/25 campaign.

A meeting has already been scheduled between the PSG board, and Simons’ representatives.

And, during as much, the plan is for the latter to inform the French champions of their client’s desire to reunite with his former employers.

For a cash-strapped Barca who would otherwise have no chance of securing his signing, this will come as the most timely of boosts.
