The London-born Spaniard, renowned for his eye for talent during his successful stint at Arsenal, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Turkish champions.
December 16 last year marked the end of an era for Francis Cagigao as he completed nearly two years as Sports Director of the Chilean teams.
His tenure was not without its hurdles, with a number of sporting failures resulting in a share of criticism. Despite these challenges, Cagigao is ready for a fresh start and has now taken on a new challenge at Galatasaray in Turkey.
The London-born Spaniard played a crucial role at the North London club, managing and signing high-profile figures such as Alexis Sánchez, Cesc Fàbregas, Santi Cazorla, and even the current manager of the team, Mikel Arteta.
Now, he returns to Europe, bringing his expertise and experience to the Turkish Super Lig.
The road ahead for Cagigao at Galatasaray is not a simple one.
He inherits a squad that recently secured a place in the group stage of the Champions League following their Turkish league triumph. This victory was a product of world-class talents like Mauro Icardi, Juan Mata, Dries Mertens, Nicolo Zaniolo and Lucas Torreira.
Cagigao is expected to bring his eye for talent to his new role, working closely with these standout players.
With Galatasaray’s ambitions set high for the next Champions League, Cagigao has a significant task at hand.
