AS Monaco and Olympique Lyonnais are preparing for potentially season-defining games. The pair will face each other on Saturday with hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification on the line for both sides.
Monaco are currently third with 58 points and Lyon seventh with 54. The latter are three points behind sixth-placed RC Strasbourg Alsace, who are level on points with Lille OSC and OGC Nice, who are fourth and fifth respectively. For their Champions League hopes, nothing but a win will do.
Speaking in a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Adi Hütter struck a cautious tone, saying that Paulo Fonseca’s side were hard done by in defeats to Manchester United and RC Lens in recent weeks. “For Lyon, I was disappointed that they lost against Manchester United. Football can be crazy and hard, and they felt it there. They were better than Lens, too. But they have lots of experience in this squad. For them, it is the last chance (to qualify for the Champions League), so we need to be really aware of this team,” said Hütter.
