Austria Wien have announced the signing of Austrian goalkeeper Jasmin Pal until the end of the 2027 season.

The 28-year-old returns to native Austria from FC Köln, where she has been since 2022.

Pal came through the youth teams at FC Wacker Innsbruck, until eventually debuting with the senior side. In 2015, Pal made her first international move, joining Germany’s BV Cloppenburg in the 2. Bundesliga across the border.

Pal moved to Germany again in 2020, when she signed for SC Sand in the Frauen-Bundesliga. Strong performances made her the first choice goalkeeper but a serious knee injury forced a lengthy break from the game.

After a year-long recovery, Pal received a call-up to represent Austria at the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros. Internationally, she has amassed five caps, but is often a regular in the national team squad.

“I am very happy to be back in Austria”

Ahead of her move, Pal said: “I am very happy to be back in Austria and would like to be the best possible support for Austria here. After my injury, it’s important to get stability back into my game and to call up my top level for myself and the team. With the Champions League, a highlight awaits right at the beginning, which we want to master satisfactorily in order to be able to attack in the championship afterwards.”

Stefan Kenesei added: “With Jassi, we are gaining one of the best goalkeepers in Austria. She has proven both internationally and in the national team that she can perform extraordinarily at the highest level. We are very pleased that she was able to convince our overall concept and look forward to a successful cooperation with another senior national player!”
