Five more Regional League campaigns kicked off on Sunday

All eight Regional Leagues are now underway for the new season although many first division sides were in FA Cup action yesterday.

EASTERN – Top two win again ahead of next week’s clash

Premier – Royston Town retained the leadership by beating Watford Ladies Development 2-0, St Albans City also made it three straight wins with a 4-1 result at Bowers & Pitsea. The Saints host Royston next Sunday at Clarence Park. Needham Market edged Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers 4-3 with the help of a Lucy Loomes double, Wroxham came from two down to draw 2-2 with Enfield Town, 120 fans saw Stevenage hit Cambridge City 6-2 and Luton Town were 4-1 winners at Haringey Borough.

1 North – Wootton Blue Cross went top after putting five past Kings Lynn Town, Real Bedford Res got off the mark in style by beating Stevenage Devs 7-1.

1 South – Colney Heath moved three p0ints clear with a 2-1 defeat of Southend United, achieved with very late goals from Bora Cela and Holly Rossington.

EAST MIDLANDS – Chesterfield Ladies start with 8-0 win

Premier – Chesterfield Ladies are initial leaders having scored eight times at Ilkeston Town, Basford United also began with a bang by sinking Nottingham Trent University 7-1, as Natasha Leach contributed three goals. Sheffield FC won 3-1 at Anstey Nomads, as did Mansfield Town over Rotherham United aided by an Amy Pashley brace, while SJR Worksop saw off Stamford 2-1.

1 South – Northampton Town Devs and Dunton & Broughton United finished at one apiece.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Barking’s Bunton bags all three goals

Premier – Dorking Wanderers and Barking joined three other sides in the top five on six points, winning 2-0 at Ashford United while the east London side defeat Millwall Lionesses 3-1 with a Laura Bunton hat-trick. Sport London E Benfica’s 8-0 result at Haywards Heath Town brought them their first points.

1 North – Dulwich Hamlet Reserves lead the table after a third win in a row, 1-0 against their counterparts from Actonians with a Natalia Davila goal.

1 South – Hastings United and Welling United drew 1-1 to each move onto four points from three games.

NORTH EAST – Ponteland in pole position

Premier – Ponteland United are the first leaders of the new campaign after hitting Harrogate Town 5-1, South Shields a close second following a 4-1 scoreline against Spennymoor Town. Alnwick Town’s 3-1 defeat of York Railway Institute featured a late double from Chloe Young, Bradford City just got the better of Wallsend BC 3-2, while it ended 1-1 between Chester le Street Town and Sunderland West End.

1 South – Ossett United’s Debbie Hastings was on target three times in an 8-2 win at York City Development.

NORTH WEST – Three in a row for Darwen

Premier – Darwen are third with games in hand and hold the only 100% record, following a 2-0 defeat of Fleetwood Town Wrens. Bury were beaten 5-1 at home by Mancunian Unity in front of a crowd of 137, Crewe Alexandra beat Tranmere Rovers 4-1, West Didsbury & Chorlton got off the mark with a 2-2 draw at second-placed Curzon Ashton. Salford City got all four goals of the game at FC United of Manchester.

SOUTHERN – Ascot romp home

Premier – Ascot United were first to show with an 11-0 win over Woodley United in which Olivia Glover notched a treble. AFC Portchester’s Millie Bradbury got two goals in a 3-0 victory at Wycombe Wanderers, Catherine Browning scored for Sholing but Oxford City substitute Ellie Walecki also found the net for a 1-1 draw, while Badshot Lea and Selsey drew 2-2.

1 North – Beaconsfield Town began with two goals in the first 14 minutes to see off Wycombe Wanderers U-23s 2-0, Abingdon United Development scored five without reply at their Chesham United counterparts.

1 South –  Wimborne Town and Woking played out a goalless draw in the division’s first match of the season.

SOUTH WEST – Seven up for MAP

Premier – Marine Academy Plymouth sank Pucklechurch Sports 7-0 with Carmen Morison on target three times, as they ended the opening day in first place. Forest Green Rovers ran out 5-1 winners at Ilminster Town, Bishops Lydeard’s Holly Meakins netted two of the three goals against Frampton Rangers, while Poole Town sub Lauren Kelly scored the second goal to seal a 2-0 win at AFC St Austell.

1 North – St Vallier were 3-1 victors over Purton, Stockwood Wanderers’ Toni Blenkinsopp got a couple but Downend Flyers left with a point from a 2-2 tie.

WEST MIDLANDS – Brewers win seven-goal thriller over Shrews

Premier – Coundon Court’s 9-2 scoreline against Solihull Sporting sees them in first place after the big kick off, Jess Lundie had a five-goal haul. Lye Town won 5-1 at Coventry Sphinx, as did Shifnal Town at home to Kidderminster Harriers after their four second-half goals. Shrewsbury Town had 120 fans in but lost out 4-3 to Burton Albion, whose Millie Drinkhall featured with a hat-trick. Alvechurch and Port Vale shared eight goals, Leek Town sent Knowle to a 4-1 loss.
