Ferland Mendy Fights for Real Madrid Future Amid Carreras Arrival
Ferland Mendy's using the summer break to launch strict fitness recovery plan aiming to rejoin Real Madrid's full training as soon as possible amid growing doubts over his future.
The French full back underwent surgery on 30 Apr to repair torn tendon in his right rectus femoris muscle. Since then, he’s been working hard to return to full fitness and was notably the only Real Madrid player training at Valdebebas during the Club World cup.
The situation's grown more complex with the signing of Alex Carreras after the Club World cup and the appointment of Xabi Alonso as the new head coach.
According to Marca while Carlo Ancelotti always preferred fit Mendy as his first choice left back, Alonso’s plans remain unclear.
Despite Carreras arrival, the club hasn't informed Mendy or his entourage of any intent to offload him boosting his confidence in reclaiming regular spot.
His current contract runs until 2028 suggesting the club’s sporting directors don't consider selling him priority unless Alonso decides otherwise.
During Mendy’s injury spell, Fran Garcia delivered standout performances especially in the Club World cup intensifying speculation about Mendy’s role heading into the new season.
Mendy's expected to undergo medical & technical evaluation upon his return from vacation next Monday , a pivotal moment that could define his future at the Bernabeu.
