Sport Bild reports that 2. Bundesliga outfit 1. FC Kaiserslautern are poising to sign Brentford centre-back Kim Ji-soo on loan. The South Korean U23 international joined the Bees from his native country 18 months ago, yet has not been able to establish himself in London thus far. The 20-year-old has made just three Premier League appearances.

Kim has drawn comparisons to his countryman Kim Min-Jae of FC Bayern Munich in terms of his potential and playing style, yet needs to accrue more playing time in order to hone his skills. Lautern enjoyed some success taking another East Asian talent on loan last season in the form of Japanese midfield Daisuke Yokota.

The German tabloid speaks of a one-year-loan without a purchase option. The central defender remains under contract with Brentford until 2027. Kim’s estimated market value has remained steady at €600,000 since joining the Bees. At one point, Bayern were reported to be interested in taking him on.
