Fabrizio Romano has rejected claims that Liverpool are no longer interested in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, revealing this in his Caught Offside column.

Summerville is likely to attract plenty of interest this summer, following the Whites' failure to secure a Premier League return at the first time of asking.

The Dutchman didn't perform brilliantly against Southampton in the play-off final and wasn't ideal for the player, but he could still move to the top flight this summer after an exceptional 2023/24 campaign.

His goals and assists were crucial for Daniel Farke's side and the winger can count himself unlucky not to have won automatic promotion, with the Whites' wobble during the latter stages of the season preventing them from pipping Ipswich Town to the post for second spot.

Not only could Summerville benefit from a move to the top tier, but Leeds may also benefit from offloading him, with the Whites potentially needing to sell some of their key players in the coming weeks to give themselves the best chance of not breaching financial rules.

With the player still having two years left on his contract, Leeds are in a strong position to sell him for a decent amount of money and with potential financial fair play issues to contend with, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him leave Elland Road during the early stages of the summer window.

Fabrizio Romano provides latest update on Crysencio Summerville interest

Lots of teams have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old in recent times, with TEAMtalk believing Marco Silva's Fulham are now keen on luring him away from West Yorkshire.

The same outlet believes Summerville remains happy at Elland Road despite his team missing out on promotion - and he won't look to force a move away from his current club.

That could strengthen the Whites' negotiating position further, with Leeds more likely to be in control of when they sell him because of his relaxed stance.

The Reds and Chelsea are two sides that may have to fork out a big fee for him - and they remain interested in the Leeds man.

That's according to transfer insider Romano, who wrote: "Liverpool and Chelsea have both been scouting Crysencio Summerville for months, but then in terms of negotiations, nothing has started yet.

"Talk of the Reds no longer being interested in the winger can’t be true as it is still early for this transfer. The appreciation from both clubs is still there, so we have to see if they decide to approach Leeds for Summerville at some point during the transfer window."

Key factor could keep Crysencio Summerville at Leeds United

A departure for Summerville may be the best outcome for all parties.

The side buying him would be getting an excellent player and the winger would have the chance to prove himself at the top level, with the player likely to get a major chance to shine considering the buying club would be paying a lot for him.

Leeds, meanwhile, may need to sell him to balance the books.

However, if he's relaxed about his future, that could potentially delay a sale and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him remain at Elland Road beyond the end of the summer window.

Leeds are in a strong position to push for promotion again next term, as things stand, so staying put may not be the worst option.
