Fabrizio Romano: No Talks Between Arsenal and Flamengo Over Gabriel Jesus

Towards the end of last week, fresh reports suggested that Arsenal were entertaining the idea of loaning Gabriel Jesus back to Brazil. The rumour mill picked up pace quickly, with claims Flamengo were in advanced discussions over a one-year loan deal that included an option to buy. Jesus, it was said, had given the green light to the move, with Arsenal reportedly willing to split his wages 50/50 with the Brazilian side.

The news stirred debate among Arsenal supporters, many of whom questioned the wisdom of such a move, especially given the forward’s experience and quality. But the speculation didn’t last long.

Transfer Expert Shuts Down Flamengo Talk

According to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, there is currently no truth to reports of negotiations between Arsenal and Flamengo. Writing on X, he stated: “No talks ongoing between Flamengo and Arsenal for Gabriel Jesus at this stage, despite reports.”

This update will come as a relief to fans who felt the proposed deal made little sense. Despite his injury troubles and inconsistent form, Jesus remains a valuable member of the squad.

Why the Rumoured Loan Deal Raised Eyebrows

Allowing Gabriel Jesus to leave on loan while still paying half his salary would have been a questionable decision. Although he may have slipped down the pecking order following the arrival of Viktor Gyökeres, Jesus still offers depth, experience, and versatility.

Whether operating as a No.9, out wide, or even in a deeper role, the Brazilian brings flair and unpredictability that few others in the squad can replicate.

If Arsenal do decide to move him on, a permanent transfer would surely make more sense, allowing the club to reinvest in a suitable replacement or strengthen elsewhere. For now, though, it seems Jesus is staying put.

Happy Gooners?
