Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has once again mentioned Chelsea’s name alongside an Italian star as being interested in signing him.

Usually when Romano does things like this, it means that there is certainly some substance to the interest and something could spark up here.

This is a move that would universally excite Chelsea fans, because Riccardo Calafiori gained many new fans during the Euros this summer, and he is a player that many of them also knew about even before then because he is a top rising star.

Calafiori had to come home early after Italy got knocked out this week, but he has been a top performer at the Euros and all season for Bologna. It looks like he is going to be one to watch as well ahead of a potential move this summer.

Chelsea keeping an eye on the Italian

The centre back is now being closely monitored by both Chelsea and Arsenal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

He posted on X last night and said: “Arsenal and Chelsea remain both attentive to the situation of Riccardo Calafiori at Bologna. No proposals yet, no negotiations but interest and race open.”

And interestingly enough, Calafiori said back in 2022: “My dream would be to play in the Premier League. I really like West Ham or Chelsea.”

This guy literally ticks all the boxes for Chelsea and if they have any kind of opportunity to try and sign him this summer then they should absolutely be all over this one. Arsenal might be a concern if they get involved, and I am sure there are many other interested clubs too as this is a really top player we are talking about here.

But if Chelsea really want another centre back who can also play as a left back, then Calafiori is your man.
