PSG are expected to make signing a center-back one of their top priorities this summer, and Bournemouth standout Illya Zabarnyi remains a key target. But bringing in the Ukrainian defender is proving to be far from straightforward.
The capital club have leaned heavily into a youth-driven approach in recent windows—signing the likes of Lucas Beraldo and Willian Pacho—and that strategy looks set to continue, even with the summer transfer window still weeks away.
According to L’Équipe’s Loïc Tanzi, PSG have already opened talks with Bournemouth over a potential deal for Zabarnyi. The 22-year-old is reportedly open to the move, especially with the FIFA Club World Cup on the horizon, but Bournemouth are sticking to a €70 million asking price.
More recently, EuroSport’s Romain Collet-Gaudin reported that the deal is close to being finalized, with Zabarnyi expected to join PSG after the Club World Cup.

On Wednesday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Paris Saint-Germain had fresh talks about a deal for Ilya Zabarny as negotiations continue to progress.
The Bournemouth defender is keen on the move, and discussions between the two clubs are ongoing as PSG work to finalize an agreement.
Newcastle United are competing with PSG for two transfer targets, as previously reported by The Athletic. One of them is Zabarnyi, who has drawn strong interest from the Magpies, particularly at St. James’ Park.
Recently, Sky Sports reported that PSG have submitted a second offer of £55 million for Zabarnyi with the asking price being £70 million. As a result, it will be interesting to see if the capital club can find a middle ground on a fee or if the Cherries intend to stick to the fee they are demanding.
