Fabrizio Romano’s latest exclusive column for Caught Offside is full of juicy stuff for fans of all clubs, although from a Chelsea perspective there’s more to worry about than be excited about.

His long section on PSG has some updates on their rumoured interest in Levi Colwill. The young defender has been on their radar for a while, and Romano insists the Parisians are happy to take a slow and steady approach to try and tempt the Cobham product at some point in the future.

“Levi Colwill is another ambitious target despite the fact Chelsea aren’t looking to sell him. Even with outgoings planned at Stamford Bridge, Colwill is not one of the players Chelsea intend to lose,” Romano wrote.

“PSG will simply monitor the situation with a view to the long-term future in case anything changes. This is a normal window-planning tactic.”

The club have moved away from the “superstar” model of recent years, with Leo Messi and Neymar gone and Kylian Mbappe leaving this summer. Their ambition is to bring in more talented players in their early 20s – like Colwill.

A crown jewel – with a price

Of course the club will do all they can to avoid selling Colwill. He’s a top class youth product and there are very good reasons to not sell him. However the situation we’re in financially would make it very hard to turn down massive offers for him, no matter how much we want to keep him. He’s valued at €50m by TransferMarkt.

We just have to hope that this new style PSG don’t do anything crazy to try and bring him in. Colwill has a very clear path to first team action at Chelsea once he’s fit, and should become a regular starter in the next 12 months. Hopefully with that done, it becomes harder to turn his head.
