Lee Hendrie believes the latest Owls takeover update is "positive for the fans".
Multiple parties are reportedly interested in completing a takeover of Sheffield Wednesday amid Dejphon Chansiri's mismanagement of the club.
The Athletic reported earlier this month that two US-based groups were in talks with current Sheffield Wednesday owner Chansiri regarding a potential takeover, with one having hired a club broker from the UK to negotiate with the Thai businessman while they remained under the radar, and the other being public with their interest.
Florida-based property investor, John Flanagan, and his partner, Sheffield-born businessman Adam Shaw, are part of the group that has made their interest known, and the latter, who is said to be a lifelong fan of the Owls, has stated that their consortium is currently in "constructive open dialogue" with Chansiri's legal representatives.
The Star has also revealed that businessman John Textor is considering a move to buy the Owls after he sold his shares in Crystal Palace for £190 million this week, which would see the South Yorkshire club become part of the American's Eagle Football Group, which also includes Botafogo, Daring Brussels - formerly RWD Molenbeek - and Olympique Lyonnaise.
With a takeover at Hillsborough appearing to be an increasingly likely possibility, Sheffield Wednesday supporters will have hope that Chansiri's disastrous spell as owner could be nearing an end.
Sky Sports pundit, Lee Hendrie, spoke exclusively to Football League World following the news that Chansiri's representatives are in dialogue with one of the US-based consortiums.
"The US consortium looks like they are pushing to get this deal done at Sheffield Wednesday - the takeover," Hendrie said.
"Chansiri's lawyers are obviously all over this. Is this a promising update for Owls fans? Yes, I think it is.
"I think Chansiri has put the club into a bit of a rut. It has been screaming out for someone to come in and invest in that football club to take it forward again, because it is a huge football club.
"There have always been problems with Chansiri, so he wants the money for it, and it looks like the US consortium are going to deliver.
"It would be a promising update for Owls fans. I think a lot of the fans have been crying out for this for quite some time, so it is promising for the football club and promising for the fans."
If any of the interested parties manage to purchase Sheffield Wednesday from Chansiri, it would undoubtedly be a positive update for the Owls.
The current owner has failed to pay the players on time on more than one occasion this year, and the late payments of wages have resulted in the club being banned from spending any money on transfers until January 2027.
That transfer restriction could make it difficult for Sheffield Wednesday to enjoy much success in the Championship next season, especially considering the financial backing of a couple of the promoted sides, so there is no doubt that new owners coming in and steadying the ship would be a real positive for the club.
