Exclusive says Chelsea to strengthen “surprise position” this summer if 3 sales are made | OneFootball

As we approach the summer, one of the major questions to be answered about Chelsea’s team is where they’re going to aim to strengthen.

After some really busy windows, the squad is almost entirely composed of young talents, and there are big questions about which ones they will move on from in order to make space for new arrivals.

So when we hear them linked to players like Malik Tillman, we can’t help but have our first thought be about who is going to leave to create room for him.

Our writer Simon Phillips was the one with the exclusive report on his Substack which is all about the young attacking midfielder. Phillips himself says it’s a “surprise position” to see the Blues looking at given how many players they already have in a similar role.

But with Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka all in the out tray, there could be space sooner rather than later.

Tillman a natural fit for Chelsea’s youth project

Tillman is a funny one – he’s a versatile player and has already bounced around a little in his career before settling at PSV where he’s shining now.

Phillips says that Chelsea have “asked for the conditions of a deal to sign him this summer.” Tillman apparently prefers a move back to Bayern Munich where he was a youth player, but so far there’s no indication they’re interested.

We suspect it might not be as easy as everyone hopes to sell Felix, Nkunku and Chukwuemeka, especially if we want to get good prices for them. But if we make good progress on that, expect players like Tillman to suddenly be pursued fiercely.

Tillman’s versatility would mean he fits in nicely with Enzo Maresca’s football philosophy, at least in theory.
