Exclusive says Chelsea “open to selling” expensive star despite recent improvement – loan also possible

Monday morning likes to arrive with a fresh batch of transfer rumours to get the people ready for the week, and this time is no different.

Today after an impressive win for Chelsea at the weekend, the focus has turned (as always) to a player who didn’t manage to get on the pitch. Last week the chatter was all about Christopher Nkunku after his recent paltry run of minutes. But he got a solid run out against Aston Villa. The big loser was Mykhailo Mudryk, who didn’t appear despite a strong showing against Heidenheim in midweek.

CaughtOffside have an exclusive which claims that Chelsea have “made it clear” that Mudryk is “set to be made available” in the upcoming January window.

The Blues “would be open to selling” he winger who arrived for £88m just 2 years ago, but also accept that a loan is “most likely” given the length of his contract and the lack of interest in paying big money for him.

They even predict the Ukraine national team star “faces the same fate” as Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling and Trevoh Chalobah – being told he’s surplus to requirements and then frozen out.

Given Mudryk was signed by these sporting directors, we can’t see that happening at all.

Chelsea B team may reduce Mudryk’s need for loan after all

We’ve often said that Mudryk needs a loan to develop, but in a way he’s getting that loan now – it’s just he’s playing for the Chelsea B team in the cups rather than a different club elsewhere. His development under Maresca looks promising in those minutes we see, so we’re not as desperate for him to get out and play somewhere else now – but if a tempting offer came up, it probably would be a sensible move for him.
