While everyone else was enjoying Christmas, GiveMeSport dropped an exclusive about Joao Felix.

Apparently, Chelsea are “set to consider selling Felix,” who only arrived in August in a £47m deal from Atletico Madrid. The piece adds that Chelsea are “bracing themselves for enquiries” when the window opens next week. Enzo Maresca and the sporting structure apparently want to “hold talks” to find out what Felix’s stance is.

The 25 year old has played 307 minutes in the Premier League, and has mainly been used in the cups. But we expect he will add to those Premier League minutes in today’s game against Fulham, and the match against Ipswich to come on Monday.

The former Benfica star isn’t the only player linked with moves away – Enzo Maresca this week addresses rumours that Christopher Nkunku isn’t happy.

Felix rumours make no sense despite exclusive claims

Simply put, we just don’t believe these rumours. Despite the claims of an exclusive source, it doesn’t ring true to us at all. Joao Felix arrived knowing exactly what his status would be – a B team player with the occasional chance to play in the A team – and that’s what he’s got.

Let’s remember his alternative was staying put at Atletico as an unpopular outcast. Getting to style it out in the Conference League and get rotation minutes in the Premier League is far better than that. Certainly eventually he will get itchy feet if he never gets a consistent run in the team. But while we’re winning, and for at least a year after he signs, we’re sure he won’t be pushing for an exit, given how much he’s said he enjoys being at Chelsea

Chelsea’s current model is all about making profits on players, selling players just 6 months into a long term deal is the opposite of what they’re looking for.
