The Trotters are bidding to bolster the squad currently at the disposal of popular head coach Steven Schumacher, who was only appointed back in January, and launch a successful promotion push in the 2025/26 campaign.

Schumacher was unable to guide Bolton to a play-off finish after taking over mid-season following Ian Evatt's departure.

Bolton finished the season in eighth position after failing to win any of their final six matches, but are among the early promotion favourites looking ahead to next term alongside the likes of Luton Town, Plymouth Argyle, Cardiff City and Stockport.

Bolton Wanderers' transfer interest in Notts County's Alassana Jatta

Sources close to FLW have disclosed that Jatta is a target very much on Bolton's shortlist following an impressive campaign in League Two with Notts County.

The Gambian frontman, who first joined the Magpies from Danish outfit Viborg last February, scored five times from his first ten appearances for Notts in the second-half of the 2022/23 season before returning 22 strikes across all competitions last time out.

His 19-goal haul in league action saw him finish as League Two's second top scorer behind Bromley's Michael Cheek, and he could potentially find himself on the move this summer following County's failed promotion bid.

Notts were consigned to a third straight campaign in the fourth tier after crashing out of the play-off semi-finals to eventual winners Wimbledon, with Jatta receiving his marching orders in the dying embers of the first-leg defeat at Meadow Lane.

However, after a season-and-a-half of impressive goalscoring form in Nottinghamshire, it does appear plausible that Jatta could be on the move in the coming weeks and months.

Back in January, it was reported by The Guardian that Notts had rejected a £750,000 bid from then-Championship outfit Plymouth, while Bolton and Portsmouth were also credited with an interest.

Bolton's interest has remained intact, although there are a number of other strikers on Schumacher's radar ahead of his first full campaign at the Toughsheet Community Stadium,

Bolton are intent on reinforcing their striker stable and sourcing upgrades on the likes of John McAtee and Aaron Collins, who both led the line under Schumacher following Dion Charles' departure for Huddersfield Town in January.

Just yesterday, FLW separately broke the news of Bolton's interest in Sam Dalby, who recently departed Wrexham as a free agent in the wake of the Red Dragons' promotion to the Championship and is being courted by two League One rivals in Blackpool and Wigan Athletic.

And earlier this month, meanwhile, FLW also revealed the Trotters' admiration of Stoke City forward Niall Ennis. The striker, of course, previously worked under Schumacher at Plymouth and would represent a logical target for the Liverpudlian to pursue this summer, although it now remains to be seen what will happen on that front given their interest in Jatta's services.
