Former Inter Milan head coach Andrea Stramaccioni is adamant Marcus Thuram is the most formidable forward in Serie A.
In his latest interview with DAZN via FCInterNews, Stramaccioni praised Thuram’s red-hot form this season.
Though Lautaro Martinez has stuttered this season, Marcus Thuram has maintained Inter’s cutting edge in the final third.
Indeed, the Frenchman has been too hot to handle in 2024/25.
Alongside Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui, he’s the division’s joint-most prolific goalscorer.
Thuram took his seasonal league tally to 13 goals with a fantastic strike in Monday’s 2-0 home win against Como.
Stramaccioni assessed Inter’s erratic performance against Cesc Fabregas’ side.
“In the first half, Inter was caught off guard by Como’s formation change and aggressiveness; it wasn’t the usual Inter.
“The victory came through their approach in the second half, with effective game management.”
“They conceded practically nothing and sealed the game with the player in the best form in Serie A, Marcus Thuram, who scored a wonderful goal,” he added.
In addition to equaling Atalanta’s 42-goal haul in Serie A, Inter registered another shutout.
Yann Sommer pulled off an eighth clean sheet in 11 matches after a 4-4 Derby d’Italia draw against Juventus in late October.
“The clean sheet statistic is something the coach really values,” Stramaccioni stated.
“Since the 4-4 draw with Juventus, Inter has become a defensive fortress.”
Despite Martinez’s barren run, Stramaccioni highlights El Toro’s commendable commitment.
“In this game, he was substituted, something Inzaghi hadn’t always done in the past to help him find the net.
“In my opinion, his contribution was very active against Roma, but against Como, he was less involved.
“However, Inzaghi is right: when an attacker isn’t being effective, I’d highlight Lautaro’s defensive work, his tackles, and a foul on Goldaniga.
“His attitude is always positive, even when he’s standing and applauding Thuram.”
