Aleksandar Stankovic swapped Inter Milan for Club Brugge in the summer for a reported fee of €10 million.
Speaking to Het Belang van Limburg via FCInterNews, he admitted it was his choice to continue his career in the Jupiler Pro League.
Inter sold Stankovic to Club Brugge in July but maintained a buyout option to bring him back to San Siro.
Indeed, the Nerazzurri can re-sign the 20-year-old next summer for €22 million.
However, if they opt to wait until 2027, they will have to fork out €25 million to lure him back to Serie A.
Meanwhile, Stankovic has already made eight appearances for the Belgian giants this season.
Furthermore, he scored in Brugge’s 6-0 demolition of Rangers in the Champions League qualifying playoffs.
Therefore, it’s fair to say that he has hit the ground running.

Aleksandar Stankovic was impressive during his season-long loan at Luzern last season.
Yet, his blistering form in the Swiss top flight wasn’t enough to earn him a first-team opportunity at Inter.
As a result, he has left the club for a new adventure.
“From the very first meeting my agents had with Club Brugge, I knew I wanted to come here and play,” Stankovic confirmed.
“Even after that, it still took another two weeks to get everything signed. But honestly, I was never worried.
“Yes, it took a while, but there were never any real problems. From the start, Club Brugge reassured me, and I was 100% convinced it would happen.”
Meanwhile, Stankovic revealed he had a phone call with Club Brugge directors before he moved to Belgium.
“After that call, I made up my mind,” he claimed. “It wasn’t a hard decision.
“I already knew the team, I had watched a lot of their games, and this is a club that believes in young players and helps them grow.
“Lucas Verhaeghe made that very clear. He and Dévy Rigaux told me, ‘Keep training individually at home and everything will be fine.’
“I had to wait a long time, but they were right. It was the best choice for my career.
“My dad, Dejan, had no influence on my choice. It was my decision, not his. He had his career, now it’s my turn.”
