Veteran midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan expects that he’ll remain at Inter Milan at least until the end of his contract in 2026.

Speaking on Armenian public access television, via FCInterNews, the former Arsenal and Roma midfielder opened up about his future, and winning the Serie A title.

At the moment, Mkhitaryan is a pillar of the Inter team.

Despite being well into his thirties, the Armenian has been absolutely tireless in terms of his fitness.

No outfield player has played more minutes for Inter this season than Mkhitaryan. The 35-year-old has played in every Serie A match the Nerazzurri have had, and has started the last 23 consecutive matches.

That is a testament to Mkhitaryan’s importance to the team as well as the veteran midfielder’s remarkable fitness.

“I waited a long time to win the Scudetto,” Mkhitaryan said.

“I’m very happy, because not everyone manages to win a trophy like that at the age of 35.”

“I’ll reflect on this achievement for a while,” the Armenian said.

Then Mkhitaryan talked about his career and his future. “My first goal since I was a child was to play for Arsenal,” he noted. “And I achieved that.”

“I still have a two-year contract with Inter,” the 35-year-old continued. “Until 2026.”

“I’ll see if I can keep playing until then. Then, we’ll think about whether I will continue there, or somewhere else.”

Mkhitaryan noted that “The Saudi Pro League is trying to develop their football and strengthen their league.”

“But I look at it negatively because I don’t think money is important. I think that in this spot, what’s important is the football.”

“I’ve always felt a love for it ever since I first touched a football,” Mkhitaryan said,

“I’ve always loved it for the game, not the money.”

So as far as the possibility of a Saudi move, the Inter midfielder said that “That door is closed ofr me.”

“I have no desire to go there, because the level of European football, the passion and the attitude of the fans, is completely different.”
