Everton are looking for a new goalkeeper to provide competition for Jordan Pickford and have their sights set on AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers.
According to Sky Sports News, “Everton are interested in Travers. David Moyes is a big fan of the Republic of Ireland international.”
Everton are in the market for a goalkeeper following the departures of Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia.
Travers struggled to break into the Bournemouth starting line-up with Neto and Kepa Arrizabalaga usurping his position at different points, forcing him to head out on loans.
The 26-year-old Everton target went on loan to the Championship with Middlesbrough in January after struggling to take the starting berth from Arrizabalaga last term.
His short stint with Boro was successful as he prevented 3.44 goals and kept four clean sheets in 17 appearances, helping the team to finish in tenth place.
Travers will be looking for a stomping ground where he can establish himself as the first-choice stopper.
It remains unclear whether Everton is the right destination for him, considering Pickford is the established number one in Merseyside.
The England international has started all 38 Premier League games for Everton in consecutive seasons.
Pickford also prevented 6.15 goals, showing he is still a top shot-stopper and will be hard to push out from the starting XI.
Travers, who has four caps for Ireland, might think twice before a move to Merseyside as Pickford remains ubiquitous between the sticks.
He scored 11 goals and contributed four assists in a breakthrough season in La Liga.
After losing Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer as a free agent, they needed to fill the gaping hole and turned to the promising 22-year-old Frenchman.
Barry will compete with Beto for a starting slot in Merseyside as the Toffees eye a top-half finish next term after finishing in 13th place this season.
