Manchester City’s superstar striker Erling Haaland is expected to sign a staggering £20 million sponsorship deal while snubbing Puma and Adidas in the process.

Since joining Manchester City in the summer of 2022, Erling Haaland has seen his personal branding and marketability skyrocket, striking new deals with a whole host of global brands and largely become the face of his current employers themselves.

Haaland’s performances on the pitch have obviously worked hand-in-hand with that success, but the player’s personality and instantly recognisable image have also seen brands fight amongst themselves for his signature.

The latest of those battles has concerned a signature for Erling Haaland’s next major boot sponsorship, with Manchester City’s kit manufacturers Puma among those to have sought out an agreement over the past 13 months.

However, in a new update on this particular negotiation, it appears as though Puma – alongside other potential suitors – are expected to lose out in the race to supply the City goalscorers shooting boots for the years to come.

That is according to the information of David Ornstein this week, who reports that the firm anticipation in the industry is that Erling Haaland will sign a new boot deal with Nike – after his previous contract with the US brand came to an end over a year ago.

Since the expiry of his former deal with the sportswear giants, Nike themselves had been locked in a battle with the likes of Adidas and Puma in an attempt to secure a deal with the Norwegian international – who is fast becoming the most marketable footballer on the planet.

As highlighted by David Ornstein for The Athletic, Haaland has been pictured in footwear manufacturer by all three of the aforementioned brands, with lucrative proposals made by each of them.

It is further revealed that the team working around Erling Haaland expect a package worth a staggering £20 million per year for the player, although ‘comfort and satisfaction’ are of ‘primary importance’.

Elsewhere, Jack Grealish is another Manchester City player who looks set to agree to a brand new sponsorship deal, with the England international among the most marketable footballers within the Premier League.

Grealish – who also saw a deal with Nike expire in recent months – has been at the centre of negotiations over a record-breaking endorsement contract for a British player, however that battle now appears to be coming to an end.

With the 27 year-old having been spotted sporting boots designed and manufactured by Puma, all signs now points towards Grealish tying up an agreement with Manchester City’s kit manufacturers in the coming days and weeks.
