England is on course for consecutive triumphs at the U21 European Championship as Lee Carsley's troops have pulled ahead to a 2-0 lead over rivals Germany.
On a night when many would have expected the Three Lions to potentially find it difficult to tackle Die Mannschafft on the back of their previous meeting this summer, goals from Harvey Elliott and Omari Hutchinson have set them on their way in Bratislava.
For Elliott, it was a goal of huge significance when he struck the opener in just the 5th minute as the Liverpool starlet's future seems destined away from Anfield.
A calm finish into the bottom corner past Freiburg's Noah Atubolu was just what the doctor ordered, and for Elliott, it was his fifth strike of the tournament; putting him just one off the pace of Stuttgart wunderkind Nick Woltemade.
With that, Elliott has become the first England U21 outfield player to hit five goals or more in the tournament since Mark Hateley in 1984.
Maybe, just maybe, his success this summer will give the Reds a moment of pause.
