Ellie Carpenter joins Chelsea from OL Lyonnes | OneFootball

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Ellie Carpenter from OL Lyonnes with the defender penning a four-year contract.

The move follows Ashley Lawrence's exit from Chelsea to join the French side with Carpenter now moving the other way.

"I'm really excited about this new challenge; it’s a new adventure," the 25-year-old said following her move to the WSL champions. "It feels like the right move for me, and I can't wait to get started and give my all for this club.

"I'm very proud to join such a big club, one of the biggest in women's football. Chelsea have enjoyed so much success in England, and I'm delighted to now be a part of it."

Carpenter began her career with Western Sydney Wanderers before later featuring for Portland Thorns. The Australian made her move to Europe by signing for Lyon in 2020 where she was a part of the team that won the Champions League in the 2019/20 and 2021/22 seasons.
