Roma midfielder Neil Aynaoui came to the club surrounded by much skepticism as fans expressed their disappointment with the club’s decision to focus on him rather than Richard Rios.

Since arriving to the club, El Aynaoui impressed everyone during Roma’s recent friendlies, proving to be a capable player under Gian Piero Gasperini’s orders.

In an interview with LaRoma24.it, El Aynaoui said, “I never thought Roma was the wrong choice. When a big club like Roma approaches you, you can’t help but be satisfied and happy. To be honest, I’ve also received a lot of positive messages on social media.”

“However, I deactivated the comments, and I did so on my father’s advice, who told me to remove them at the time. Now I just feel like committing and working hard every day to change the opinion of those who criticized me before I even arrived.”

On Matthew Ryan’s advice regarding his brief time at Roma, “It’s strange because even before I learned of Roma’s interest, I had the chance to chat with him about his experience in Rome. He always spoke highly of the city, the club, and everything it represents. Then, curiously, this transfer came to fruition.”
