Egyptian Legend Hassan Shehata Undergoes Emergency Surgery
Egyptian football icon Hassan Shehata's undergone emergency surgery following sudden health crisis according to former national team captain Ahmed Hassan.
The former Al Ahly & Zamalek star posted the news on his official Facebook page on Monday confirming that the legendary coach'd been admitted to hospital for surgery.
However no further information was released regarding Shehata’s current condition or the nature of the illness.
Known affectionately as El Moallem (The Teacher), Hassan Shehata, now 76 is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in African football history. He led Egypt to unprecedented three consecutive Africa cup of Nations titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
Shehata also managed clubs such as Zamalek, Arab Contractors, Qatar's Al Arabi and Morocco’s Difaa El Jadida. His last coaching role was with Petrojet in 2017. Since then he worked as sporting advisor for Austrian side Maureverik and became respected TV analyst.
