In preparation for the 25/26 Premier League season, Manchester United and Everton drew 2-2. In the so-called Summer Series, a competition that brings together Everton, United, West Ham, and Bournemouth in the United States. With the draw, the Red Devils were crowned champions of the tournament.
The teams have their friendly matches in preparation before the start of the Premier League, in two weeks. United will face Arsenal and Everton plays a day later, against Leeds.
Manchester United didn't take long to take the lead at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. At 19 minutes, after a good play between Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo was brought down by Tarkowski in the area. The Portuguese midfielder took the penalty with finesse and opened the scoring.
The good football played by the Manchester club was interrupted by Everton's goal at 40 minutes. Ugarte made a poor play in the middle, Gueye recovered the ball and crossed to the far post, where Ndiaye was unmarked and simply had to push it into the net.
With many changes and new faces, the teams returned for the second half. And it was in the brilliance of Mason Mount that the Red Devils regained the lead: Mount played a one-two with Bruno Fernandes at the edge, received it back in the box and hit a beautiful right-footed shot, leaving Pickford with no chance.
However, six minutes later, Heaven emerged as the villain for United to seal the draw. Onyango broke down the right, reached the byline and rolled it to the middle for McNeil, who didn't even need to shoot, as Heaven came in recklessly and sent it into his own net.
