Reports in Italy indicate that Douglas Luiz is all set to join Nottingham Forest from Juventus after a phone call between Evangelos Marinakis and Damien Comolli on Monday night, despite Bianconeri head coach Igor Tudor’s final attempt to get a tune out of the former Aston Villa star.
According to reports from Tuttosport, a direct phone call between Forest owner Marinakis and Juventus general manager Comolli has ‘unlocked’ negotiations between the two clubs.
The Old Lady have been looking to sell Douglas Luiz just one year on from his €50m signing from Aston Villa last summer, and have been pushing for a fee close to the €40m mark in order to avoid making a capital loss on the 27-year-old.

Tuesday’s reports indicate that Douglas Luiz is ‘increasingly destined’ to join Forest for a fee just over the €30m mark, which will consist of a loan and an option to buy, which will become an obligation under easily-achievable circumstances.
That is despite Tudor’s final attempt to get something out of the Brazilian midfielder. The Juve head coach had tried to deploy Douglas Luiz in a more advanced midfield role, close to the centre-forward, in a pre-season friendly against the Next Gen side last week.
Despite finding the net on that occasion, Tuttosport claims that there was never really a ‘concrete’ chance would stay with the Old Lady heading into the 2025-26 campaign.
