Dortmund confirm sale of Jamie Gittens to Chelsea | OneFootball

On the eve of their Club World Cup semi-final showdown with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the high-profile sale of English winger Jamie Gittens to Chelsea for €55 million.

The agreement, finalised in Fort Lauderdale, comes as both clubs compete on North American soil,  with Chelsea also eyeing a semi-final spot against Palmeiras.

In a released statement, the German club announced: "Borussia Dortmund's offensive player Jamie Gittens (20) is on the verge of a transfer to the English Premier League club Chelsea FC. All parties involved agreed in principle on this today, Thursday, in Fort Lauderdale (USA). The contractual details are still being finalized."

Gittens  joined the Bundesliga side from Manchester City’s youth system in 2020 and made his senior debut two years later. Over the course of 107 appearances for Dortmund, he scored 17 goals and registered nine assists.

The highly rated youngster becomes the latest promising talent to join the ranks at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea continue their strategy of investing in youth.
