Inter Milan defender Tomas Palacios will join Monza on loan for the rest of the season.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. They report that the 22-year-old will undergo his medicals ahead of the move tomorrow or Wednesday.
Defender Palacios joined Inter last summer. He made the move from Talleres in Argentina.
Inter signed Palacios as a long-term prospect, rather than to make an impact in the senior team right away.
However, the 22-year-old has been training with the first team and not the youth sides. And he has made a few appearances over the first half of the season.
But Palacios has yet to start a match for the Nerazzurri. He has only gotten a few sporadic cameo appearances.
Considering how little playing time Palacios has gotten so far this season, it is little surprise that Inter would consider loaning the Argentine out.
The priority is for Palacios to join a club where he will start regularly.
There have been a couple clubs to show an interest in signing Palacios. Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen were among them.
However, it is Monza who have made the decisive push.
The Brianzoli have identified Palacios as a defensive reinforcement for the second half of the season.
Particularly with Pablo Mari departing, Monza are in need of a new defensive signing as they gear up for a tough relegation battle.
Palacios will certainly have the opportunity to receive considerably more playing time at Monza than he has so far at Inter.
The Lombard team will sign Tomas Palacios on loan. It will be a dry loan with no purchase option.
The 22-year-old will join the Brianzoli until the end of the current season.
Sky report that the clubs have ironed out all the details of the move. And Palacios has given the green light on his end.
Therefore, the broadcaster reports, Palacios should undergo his medicals within the next couple days.
